Visit the beautiful ornamental flower gardens beside the visitor centre in Wasagaming or at the Wishing Well located beside the Clear Lake Golf Course. These English Gardens were built by depression relief workers and their purpose was to frame the areas’ majestic heritage buildings, “gentrify the wilds of the park” and act as a visitor attraction. Since the 1930’s the Visitor Centre Heritage Gardens has been a major gathering place in Wasagaming.
Today, efforts continue to preserve the gardens’ rich heritage and beauty and demonstrate how people can have a beautiful chemical free garden that is safer for them and their pets, easy to maintain, and better for the environment. To find out the secrets of these heritage gardens and some tips for your own garden, join the head gardener for Garden Tours Thursday mornings at 10am July and August.
