A dream to create a Memorial Park for the Acadians in 1907 came to fruition in the 1920’s when the design to develop the park in a Victorian style was completed. The garden features structured and wild romantic elements with extensive lawns, trees providing shade, resting and picnic areas, “carpet beds” with annual flowers, shrubs to delineate paths, rose gardens and vines such as honeysuckle and wisteria, ponds surrounded by weeping willows, and statues and monuments.
