In honor of the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Ghent, the peace treaty that ended the War of 1812 between the United States of America and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (Canada), the Belgian Royal Society for Agriculture and Botany and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium presented 144 ‘Peace Flower of Ghent’ rose bushes to the City of Ottawa. The Treaty of Ghent Rose Garden, unveiled in July 2014, is located in Nelson Mandela Square, in front of the Heritage Building of Ottawa City Hall.
